I fell down a rabbit hole this morning, remembering suddenly the old cut-and-sew projects I did as a kid (as well as the cut-and-sew Cheshire Cat I found at a “junque” store, which is one of my favorite home decor items). I’ve got a seven-and-a-half-year-old who is begging to learn to sew, and a four-year-old who loves cat things, and a two-year-old who loves “dotties” (dollies) and pretty things, and a new baby girl on the way who needs her own share of “dotties” and pretty things. I searched the Spoonflower site for cut-and-sew projects (if there is another good place to look, let me know!) and wanted to share some of what I found. (For the record, this post isn’t even remotely an ad or sponsored. Just sharing my finds.)
For the boys

Tiger Lily by Nadine Westcott | As soon as I saw this, I thought of Anselm! I thought he would really like this one.

Biting Lion & Tiger Puppets by Marketa Stengl | These puppets look fun and straightforward. I thought they might work for Ephraim, who wants to learn to sew.

Billy Cat Pencil Case by Woodmouse & Bobbit | This pencil case is a bit more complicated, but it would be nice for our resident Artist, Clive.

Yellow Dragon Plushie by Marketa Stengl | This one looks a little more complicated, but I know the boys would love it once finished.
for girls

Cora the Mermaid by Cerigwen | Elvie saw this while I was making this blog post and gasped, “Oh, dat’s PRETTY!”

Flora the Cat by Suzy Taylor | Elvie really liked this one too. Such a pretty kitty!

We Belong Together Cut-&-Sew Mini Plushies by Joyce Wan | These look like lots of fun for Elvie, though I imagine her brothers would probably steal them, too. These would be nice to fill with beanbag stuff, too.
just for fun

Maude The Magpie by Laura Wright | This one just caught my eye. She’d be fun sitting around somewhere. 🙂

Carol the Octopus by Laura Wright | This one would make a fun baby toy, I think. You could put a rattle in the head and crinkle paper down the legs.

Maureen the Cut & Sew Emu-A-Do-Do Softie Toy by Laura Wright | The artist’s page says you can message her for scale changes, and I think this one would be fun on the bigger side!
There are tons more designs on the Spoonflower website–just search for “cut ad sew”. Do you remember making projects like this as a kid?
